Okay, here's the deal. This journal is pretty much, well, dead. While this account will remain in existence for the purpose of leaving others comments and reading what they have to say, I've decided to move my ramblings elsewhere:

LET'S PLAY ROBOTS, EVERYBODY!

These things happen. Byebye, Livejournal. You've been good to me!

I'm Skeeter!

Skeeter is Doug's best friend, and best friends are important when you're the new kid in school. Skeeter's certainly one of a kind. For one thing, he's blue--not sad blue, but the color blue. He also sometimes honks twice like an old car before speaking. According to Skeeter, there's nothing better than going around and around in circles and not getting anywhere. But Skeeter is well-liked--probably because Skeeter likes himself. And Skeeter's friends are glad to have him around. (Bio borrowed from Bluffington)

Which of Nickelodeon's Doug characters are you?

Oh, yes! Skeeter rules all. Time for work.

Just a few random things insignificant to anyone but moi.

I thought I could handle three classes on Mondays. I was wrong - HA! I totally can't. Eh, you live and learn, I suppose. So anyway, this realization led me to the advisors office this morning where I dropped my 8am with Malle. Eh, shouldn't be that big of a deal - I'll just pick up the extra credit with an online course in an upcoming quarter and I should be right back on track. And, considering how easy AIP's general ed. classes are in the classroom, I can't even imagine how easy they'll be from home.

Time management = not my friend. I need to work on that. I'm going to work on that...starting now. I have Wednesday off from school and work this week - I will be spending that time either a) getting ahead on homework, b) cleaning my wreck of an apartment, c) buying pants that don't fall down, or finally, the best option of them all, d) all of these. Yes, I rather like that one.

And hey! I'm even going to try sleeping at night. Wish me luck on that one.

I don't know about other women, but I don't appreciate guys hanging out of their car windows while I'm walking by and yelling "Hey, you're hot. I give you two thumbs up." I'm not a movie, Ebert, so put your damn thumbs away! I like walking home in peace, and if a guy's going to try to pick me up, he'd better do it in a respectful way. And, uh, preferably not from his car.

Giving compliments is one thing, being a loser that likes to make women uncomfortable is another.

Wow! I love it when first, I realize I have no cash for fare once I make it to the trolley station. Second, finding out the closest ATM is out of cash, forcing me to walk all the way back to the school in this blistering heat. And third, accidentally hopping on a South Hills via Overbrook trolley instead of via Beechview.

It's wonderful when your normal 20 minute trip home becomes almost an hour and a half.

Other than that, though, I had a pretty good day! So, despite the terrible trip home, I'm smiling. :) I like to smile.

Liz and I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory this evening at the Omnimax theater. It was high quality entertainment, and Johnny Depp played a wonderful Willy Wonka, but, did it top the original? Psh, no. However, I didn't expect it to, so I'm not disappointed.

Makes me sad though that most kids today will never realize that the original Oompa Loompas are orange and green and that the original songs from that movie rule all. M'oh well.

After the movie we walked around the, eh, what do you call it? North shore? Sure. North shore. It's beautiful down there by the river, and there's this kickface stair fountain you can play in. I fully intend on going in the next time I'm there. I sort of want to visit every fountain in the city - just walk around downtown Pittsburgh, soaked from head to toe. It'd be fun. Care to join, anyone?

Well, that's all for now. I have homework to do.

I just finished watching Finding Neverland. It's a wonderful movie. You should see it.

About ten minutes after I came home from work this afternoon, Kelly called. Apparently, Alison put in her two weeks and there's an extra shift available next week. Kelly knows how desperate I am for hours, and was kind enough to let me have first dibs. Extra shift = extra money = sexified. Actually, Emilio and Kelly are going on vacation the same week (I think in two weeks), so Bach has to divide an extra 60 hours between the rest of us. This is exciting because Alicia has no money, and has a few free days still in her schedule.

Lala. I've been singing an awful lot lately. More than usual. I should form a band - a band that only I can hear because I'm probably always going to be too shy to perform anything for other people.

Derrrrr.

Lately my friends page has been filling up with little "about me" lists. So, I guess it's about time I jump on the bandwagon; this is a good way to procrastinate.

I don't like these bands: Thursday + System of a Down.

I fully intend on adopting a little girl from China someday. So, if you have a problem with that, don't marry me. Okay?

I'm addicted to the show Beauty and the Geek on the WB.

I love looking through photo albums.

I'm the most unorganized person in the world - except when it comes to my DVD and CD collections. Both in alphabetical order.

I have never seen the Lord of the Rings movies and I've never read the books. Not much of a desire to do so, either.

I own a first edition of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith.

I'm an underwear snob; I refuse to buy it from anywhere but Victoria's Secret.

I hate the sun.

I think Vince Vaughn is extremely sexy, but not physically attractive.

I absolutely despise trying on clothes.

When I was two, I fell off a stool in my grandfather's kitchen and dislocated my elbow.

When I recieve packages in the mail, I typically enjoy the bubble wrap more than the other contents of the box.

I've "dated" guys, but I've never been asked out on a "date."

I hate when one of my shoes is tied tighter than the other, but I don't mind when they're both untied.

I want to travel.

As a kid, one of my favorite things to do was create floor plans for my future house.

Car horns/alarms could quite possibly annoy me more than anything else.

I think pigtails are just about the cutest hairstyle, ever.

I have homework to finish, and I've put it off long enough.

Bye!

I read and enjoyed the first of the series, but I don't quite understand this Harry Potter phenomenon. While not comprehending it, I can't say I particularly mind it, though. I mean, hey - it's getting kids excited about reading, which gets a check plus in my book.

This humidity is killing me. Die, Dennis. I don't enjoy reading the local forecast and seeing "scattered thunderstorms + high humidity" for every single day until next Friday. Ugh.

Anyway, today: dinner with grandpa at Damon's, then a little hang out time with Liz. I, of course, while at the mall, started feeling sick, so, when we left we decided to just call it a night. And so...here I am. Feeling ill. OH JOY!

I'm debating whether or not I'm content being a hermit tonight. Meh.

I always get lonely once a new quarter begins. School and work don't leave much time for a social life - and when I am available, I don't feel like moving because I'm so tired from working all week, whether it be at AIP or the Exchange. I can't really win.

Things I'd like to do:

Science Center, to play with the water pipes.
Zoo, because it's the freaking zoo.
Market Square, to feed the pigeons.
Wharf, at night. Playing hide and seek would be a plus.
Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc. I want to find tacky things.

Most of all, I just want to go exploring. Leave my place in the morning and just walk all over: beyond Dormont. Don't be shy, let me know if you want to accompany me. I'm to blame for the rut I'm in - I realize that those close to me are always there and all I have to do is call if I need a friend.

Anyway - this weekend is plan-free. I'm going to change that. ♥

A couple mini paragraphs for your reading entertainment.

Welcome Home, the new Coheed song, is incredible. Different from their previous releases, it's like an all out rock opera. They went back to their classic metal influences and I AM IN LOVE. I'd say it's worth checking out, even if you're not typically a Coheed and Cambria fan. It's different - good different. New album September 20th. Excited.

I managed to score a used Wacom tablet (including wireless pen + mouse, drivers, and bonus software) for $50 today. Yes, I said used - but who the crap cares? Wacom tablet!

Okay, that's really all. G'night!

[Just so you're aware, arrogance is so unattractive. The moment you think you're better than everyone else is the moment I think you need to take your blinders off.]

After fourteen hours of class on Monday and eight on Tuesday, I'm glad I don't have to visit AIP for another 5 days. I have to work some, but not too much, and homework's not incredibly overwhelming yet. I'm sure that will change, but for now I'm content, school-wise, with the way things are. Three cheers for that. Anyway, my classes are as follows:

Graphic Illustration. Should be fun - more of a simplistic, stylized way of doing portraits - quite appropriate for my major so I think I can gain quite a bit of useful knowledge from this class.
Sociology. Evan was right - this class will be an absolute blast. Matvey's going to be a great professor, I can tell already. I'm most looking forward to our required discussion of current events every week, probably because I'm a big nerd. Oh, and Anna's in my class, which was a nice surprise.
Digital Image Manipulation II. In simpler terms: Photoshop II. Will be relatively easy but definitely fun. I love me some Photoshop.
Western Civilization. I thought this class would be quite a drag. I really did, but, after showing up at 8am and finding out our professor is awesome, I've changed my mind. First of all, we don't need a textbook, and second - it's quite incredible, but his lectures are interesting...for the entire four hours.
Concept & Copy. I had no clue what this class was until Ms. Bamburak started talking yesterday. Basically, it's the text part of advertising - effectively using text to sell a product. Sounds boring, but I honestly don't think it will be.

Josh is in three of my five classes, which will be nice, having a friend around. I have a feeling my second year here will be so much better than the first. Everyone's getting to be so much more familiar with each other(especially now that we're in more major-specific classes), and in a weird way it's kind of like a sick and twisted family. Ha!

Okay, moving on.

Worked today, came home with more music. I've gotta stop this, but I probably won't. One CD is for my mother, but over the past two weeks I've purchased the following for meself:

[last week]
Kid Dynamite Shorter, Faster, Louder
Amos Lee
Sneaker Pimps Becoming X
The Aviator Soundtrack
Tooth & Nail Records 10th Anniversary [6 Disc Set]

[today]
Kasabian
Cruel Intentions Soundtrack
Lords of Dogtown Soundtrack
The Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.

...I've purchased 55 CDs in the past year. Eh, it's a lot for me, at least.

Jenny visited last week, and it was a good time; it's always a good time with the Kev. We managed a good balance between staying in time and going out time, I think. We hung out with some people, didn't hang out with other people, you know how it goes. Really, you do. Of course the week went too fast, but I'll hopefully be able to visit her in down in Athens before Christmas. I'll keep my fingers crossed; I must visit!

Well, I'm all LJed out. I'll be back. But, until then: keep cool, my babies!

Okay. Alicia thought she was going to have five days off this week. That five has been scaled down to one: tomorrow. I picked up a shift yesterday from 1-7 at the Southside store, because they were short a person. Today, Anna called around noon, sick as a dog - so I took her 2-8:30 shift. Then, tonight at work, Jamie came in asking if I could cover his Wednesday 4-9 shift. Some...thing he had to go to. Whatever, I don't know. On the bright side, I get 27.5 hours this week, which is almost triple what I get in a normal week while school's in session.

Oh well, I'm still going home next week so I can't complain too much.

Why did I call? Why did I say those things? Why? I can be such an idiot sometimes. I hate these persistent feelings: the feelings I've been trying to push away for convenience, for sanity. I thought I was coping so well. I thought - until I had to ruin everything by spilling all of my emotions right into his ear.

Times, with him, are rough right now. I have been trying to allow them to run their course so the pain is less severe when we speak, and up until this morning at 1am I had been doing a wonderful job. Keeping myself occupied, avoiding picking up my phone to call him. But now...I hate that phone number. I hate that ridiculous ring tone, his ring tone: the one that sounds like Megaman music. I loathe that little heart icon that appears above his name on my phone's display. Yet, I miss him more than ever.

I don't want to rekindle our romantic relationship - I don't want that kind of relationship at all right now. But I cannot just push aside the feelings for him that still lie, waiting, within me. So, case in point, I don't know what the hell I'm supposed to do. And, I'd ask for advice, but I doubt anyone knows the full story. Besides, I don't think I really want it right now.

From the June 16, 2005 issue of Rolling Stone:

Backstreet Boys ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
Never Gone
Jive

Under the teen-pop beats and R&B trained harmonies, Bon Jovi-style bombast has often lurked beneath the Backstreet Boys' surface. Now that boy-band dance grooves have vanished from radio airwaves, the urge to rock out in a superslick power ballad kinda way dominates Never Gone, the first album in five years from Kevin Richardson, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough, A.J. McLean, and Nick Carter. Never Gone never attains the dizzy heights of previous hits and never reaches far enough toward new territory: The lead single, "Incomplete," borrows enough from Coldplay's piano atmospherics to be both halfway decent and disturbingly crass, and Five for Fighting's John Ondrasik contributes "Weird World," which suggests Ben Folds without the wit. Whether working their original Swedish Svengali, Max Martin, or platinum producers like John Shanks (Michelle Branch, Kelly Clarkson), the Backstreet men rarely accelerate beyond a mid-tempo thud. And with all the millions they've made, can't the Backstreet organization afford someone to write better titles than "My Beautiful Woman" and "Poster Girl?"

BARRY WALTERS

----

13 year old Alicia says, "No, you're crazy!
